DEFERRED ACTION FOR CHILDHOOD ARRIVALS (DACA)

DACA status is for available young undocumented adults who were brought to the U.S. as children.

DACA eligibility:

  • Must have arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16 years 
  • Be currently enrolled in school or completed high school
  • Must have resided in the U.S. continuously since June 15, 2007
  • Must have been below the age of 31 years as of June 15, 2012
  • Must have not been convicted of certain criminal offenses

A person with DACA can apply for Work authorization and may also apply for advance parole to temporarily travel outside the U.S.

DACA status currently has no pathway to U.S. citizenship.
