MILITARY PAROLE IN PLACE (MPIP)
Military Parole in Place is a discretionary program that allows certain noncitizen family members of active-duty, reserve, or veteran military personnel to apply for parole status. This parole status effectively “paroles” them into the United States. Put simply, it gives them a lawful entry and allows them to apply for their Green Card in the U.S. instead of leaving the U.S. to apply for an immigrant visa at a U.S. consulate. MPIP is a gem especially in situations where leaving the U.S. would subject the noncitizen to the unlawful presence bars.
